Below is a authographed card of Neale Henderson, I interviewed Mr. Henderson ( Bobo ) at the HOF induction for the Negro League induction in Kansas City, Mo in 2000 ( I was the guest of THE ROPE - Bob Boyd ) I will soon post a portion of that interview! I had the good fortune of attending those ceremonies - getting a number of autographs meeting some wonderful men - Charlie Pride, Double Duty Ratcliffe, Hank Aaron, Joe B. Scott, and Sherwood Brewer among many others.

Following is the logo that was adopted for that particular ceremony.

My earliest memory of the Orioles is 1957 - I was a kid from Arkansas - an army brat - who had lived his life on the road - to this point - Between 1957 and 1965 I lived as many years in the Baltimore area as anywhere - hence my reference as that being home - although i lived most of the last 30 years in Arkansas - as a 9 year old kid playing ball with my friends - They loved to tease me about where I was from - "Akansaw" was there pronunciation of my home state - but alas - I had the last laugh! One day, while we were changing the sound of our bikes into motorcycles - by placing baseball cards in the spokes - held there by clothes pins - I discovered a card of one named Brooks Robinson - from - LITTLE ROCK ARKANSAS - he became our hero - and I could hold my head high!

On my last trip to Baltimore - attended the game between the Orioles and Rockies on Fathers Day - delightful - but the best part of the entire trip was meeting HOF'er Jim Palmer - We were dining at Da Mimmo;s in the Little Italy district of downtown Baltimore -we were introduced to the owners - the Masoodi's - who have a wonderful restaurant - they know Jim Palmer personally - and assured us that he would show up after the game - and sure enough - he did - and we were able to visit with one of my favorites - for several minutes br

When I went to Roxboro NC to interview Enos "Country" Slaughter, I arrived at his place, in the country, began unpacking my video and audio recording stuff - there was a trailer to the right of the house, a gentleman sitting on the front porch ask if he could help, I explained that I had an appointment with Mr. Slaughter, he said " don't bother to knock, just walk right on in", me, having been raised in Baltimore and other large cities knew right away that I was not gonna JUST WALK RIGHT ON IN - when I knocked on the door - the gruff voice on the inside hollered - COME ON IN - I hesitated for a moment - knocked on the door again - and the voice hollered 'BY GOD, I SAID come on in" - I did as instructed, that episode has created a fond memory I have of Mr. Slaughter.
